Communiqué de presse

Centaur is a not for profit organisation who’s mission is to create, develop, produce, and present plays and other theatrical explorations from the local, national and international repertoire – the whole, instilled with a vibrancy and relevancy that relates directly to contemporary human experience. We are guided in our efforts by a philosophy of staying “in the moment”, always remaining current with world theatre innovation and presenting a dynamic mix of theatrical form and content drawn from the classical, modern and cutting edge range.
It is also our mission to foster the spirit of, and participate in, theatrical collaboration with the International, national and Quebec theatre community at large - with an emphasis on Montreal. We adhere to a mandate of presenting the plays of Montreal playwrights, in addition to other Canadian writers.
As well, it is our undertaking to implement and employ outreach initiatives and programs that will assist in the development of Montreal theatre artists and audiences.
Our goal is to maintain a clear community, national and international identity, and finally, our responsibility is to carry out all of the above through the conscientious management of our business affairs.

OUR PROGRAMMING
From the classics to the contemporary, Centaur Theatre Company produces theatre for our times - theatre that reflects the pulsating, ever-changing world around us and theatre that celebrates the vibrant voice of today's Montreal.

The best of Tremblay is found in Bonbons assortis.” –Voir

This is the charming, bittersweet story of six-year-old Michel and his home under the dining room table. From his unique view at the bottom of his world, he sees everything from the knees down but hears everything from the heart up; all the stories, arguments, gossip, philosophy, jokes and wisdom that spill from the lives of the five women and one man who are the seminal influences in his young life. Once again, Michel Tremblay takes us to Montreal’s Plateau and into the world of Nana (For The Pleasure of Seeing Her Again) and the memorable characters at the centre of his young universe.

From hilarious comedy, to moving drama, from contemporary to classical,
our crowd-pleasing productions will speak in a chorus of entertaining ways.
As always, a sparkling grace note to our theatrical conversation will be
the presentation of our powerful Montreal plays.

Inspired by his book of short stories, Bonbons assortis, Assorted Candies is an unforgettable family experience that we are honoured to present in our role as the home of Michel Tremblay’s English-language premieres.” GM
